BJP blinks; Yeddyurappa to be made CM in 24 hours?
There are reports that Yeddyurappa will also seek amendments in the state budget presented in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Yeddyurappa, on Tuesday, had refused to travel to Delhi and also intended to boycott the Budget presentation in Assembly earlier. But on an apparent change of stance, Yeddyurappa along with as many as 67 of his loyalists decided to attend the Budget session on Wednesday. There are reports coming out that he will be reinstated as CM either Wednesday evening or on Thursday morning. The meeting with Yeddyurappa and the BJP top brass in Delhi is considered to be crucial for the way forward.
The simple fact that Yeddyurappa has the power of number backing him is likely to work in his favour. The other fact that the BJP had to face defeat in the Udupi-Chikmagalur bypolls in spite of it being a party stronghold has compelled party bosses to have a careful re-think of the Yeddyurappa factor. Local channels have stated that the change in CM will be made post Mar 30 and the decision on who will adorn the chair will be made in the next 24 hours. As fresh drama unfolds in the state, residents in Karnataka await with bated breath.
