BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Mar 19: Looks like former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa's patience has worn out and he has issued an ultimatum to the BJP high command to reinstate him as the CM once again or else face the consequences. The power struggle has been playing in the state in last couple of months, but the events on Sunday took a turn for the worse. Yeddyurappa has claimed that he has the support of half of party MLAs.

Yeddyurappa has sought the BJP's top brass to convene a legislature party meet within 48 hours. He has been quoted as saying, "55 legislators are here today. 15 more will join tomorrow. I am confident that the BJP central leadership will take note of all these developments and take an appropriate decision as soon as possible."

The new move will most likely shake the BJP-ruled Sadananda Gowda government and will compel the party to take some quick action in the matter. The BJP currently has a strength of 120 legislators, including the Speaker, in the 224-member Assembly.

Yeddyurappa has been demanding the position of the CM for the longest time and commented on Sunday, "Wait for 48 hours. It is not a deadline. I am sure the party leadership will take a decision." Meanwhile, CM Sadananda Gowda is all geared to present his maiden state budget on Mar 21 with Yeddyurappa hoping that the BJP decision makers make a decision on his case before that.

Yeddyurappa loyalists have decided to submit a memorandum to BJP President Nitin Gadkari seeking a legislature party meeting. The former CM's flexing of muscles is being downplayed by state unit party president KS Eshwarappa, who said that there was no meeting scheduled with the BJP high command in New Delhi and that there will be no change of guard whatsover.

On Sunday, Minister for Municipal Administration Balachandra Jarkiholi stated that he was irked with the dissidence within the party and threatened to quit Assembly membership along with 19 others.
