An indication on the same was given out in the aftermath of the high powered meeting that was attended by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to deliberate on how best to tackle the Trivedi issue and the Uttarakhand crisis. The decision on Trivedi's ouster is believed to have been communicated to UPA's key ally, TMC already. [Read: Rail fares hiked; Mamata upset, Dinesh Trivedi to resign?]
There were also reports stating that Mamata Banerjee had already written to the PM seeking a replacement for Trivedi. Sources have also claimed that there was some re-thinking on the Trivedi issue within the TMC as well. The fact that Trivedi nominally hiked the passenger fares in the Railway Budget presented recently has irked the TMC that has apparently gone against party ideologies.
There are also reports that there will be a partial roll-back of the Rail fare hike especially that of the lower classes in a move to appease Mamata Banerjee and her pro-aam aadmi stance.
