Chennai, Mar 16: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided the residence of former Anna University vice chancellor D Viswanathan and other officials over charges of fabrication of fake quotations in order to favour Chennai-based company Barnas International. The raids were carried out on Friday.

Along with raids on the University officials, the officials also snooped down at the office of Barnas International as well as the residence of the CEO of the firm PM Najimudeen and another official. The matter was revealed in a statement made by the DVAC here.

According to the DVAC, certain University officials in collusion with Barnas International fabricated bogus quotations under the name of bogus companies in a limited tender for the purchase of electronic items.

The matter was exposed during a discreet inquiry, that later led to a case being filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 against Barnas International and unknown public servants of the Anna University. Among the other officials who were raided include P Narayanasamy and K Nagarajan.
