BJP seeks clarity over Trivedi's fate
"Should I presume that Prime Minister's authority is weakened day by day? It is a very disturbing news for the democracy of India. We expect Prime Minister must clear the air as to who is the Rail Minister of India," BJP leader Ravishankar Prasad told reporters outside Parliament.
His comments came in the wake of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanding removal of Trivedi over his proposed hike in passenger fare in the Rail Budget, presented in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
Expressing concern over functioning of the government, Prasad said the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing in the Congress-led UPA.
The UPA government has become "a laughing stock", he said.
"Yesterday Railway Minister presented the Rail Budget, the Prime Minister publicly approves it, within 10 minutes we hear the allies seeking rollback. Thereafter there is a pressure for resignation of the Railway Minister and we do not know who is the present Railway Minister of India," Prasad said, adding, "What will happen to the Rail Budget, which is now the property of Parliament?"
