Rs 320 cr Cong Prez Kripashankar to face arrest?

Mumbai, Mar 3: In a matter of shame to the Congress party, former Maharashtra Congress President Kripashankar Singh is facing further embarrassment after it was reveled that he might be arrested. Raids were carried out on Kripashankar's properties following directions by the Bombay High Court which instructed the police to do so.

With reports stating that the Congress Prez is worth Rs 320 crore, among the properties include a bungalow, seven flats and hundreds of acres of land. He is severely embroiled in disproportionate assets case following the revelations.

The officials have started attaching the properties of Kripashankar in the city after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) initiated actions against him. The judgement by the Supreme Court have also caused further setback in the case.

Among the range of properties that Kripashankar owns is a bungalow on Carter Road in Bandra, worth Rs 40 crore; a duplex flat in Vile Parle; a triplex flat on Mount Mary Road, Bandra worth Rs 48 crore; a commercial space measuring 22,000 sq feet in the Bandra-Kurla Complex worth Rs 100 crore; 250 acres of land in Ratnagiri worth close to Rs 25 crore.

The SIT investigating the case have also found benami flats under various names that belong to Kripashankar and his family. The SIT has been ordered to submit the compliance report to the Bombay High Court on Apr 19.

As per television reports, Kripashankar has a flat in the name of Surendrapratap Singh, his brother-in-law and another flat in the same building in the name of a person from his native village.

Investigation also revealed close to 22 bank accounts of Kripashankar's family. Other vital documents seized also point out hidden accounts and sources of income and tax evasions. The JanLokpal tweeted, "400 live cartridges, 2 Beemers, 12 properties across Mumbai including shops/offices! Sounds more like D-Company than a Cong leader!"
