BJP to punish Varun Gandhi, will Rahul come to save brother?
A top BJP leader recently has been quoted as saying, "We are convinced that his recent comments have damaged the party and these come under anti-disciplinary activities. State leaders have put a lot of pressure on us. We are considering initiating action against him immediately after the election process ends."
Varun, while delivering speech during a recent election campaign, claimed that BJP “was ‘spoilt for choice’ and had 55 chief ministerial candidates.” The statement did not go well with Varun and, especially with the BJP.
However, Varun clarified his statement saying, "I have already clarified my statement and it is widely covered. I am in constant touch with my senior leaders and there is no indication of such action. Some leaders have even called me to say that they are convinced with my clarification."
Earlier Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari had stated, "We do not answer hypothetical questions... whether somebody is angry or not not ask him whether he is angry or not. It is not necessary for us to comment." Mr Tiwari was facing questions regarding speculations over Varun's latent decision to quit BJP and to join Congress.
