No relief for mining czar Janardhana Reddy; custody extended
Former Karnataka Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy, who is facing charges along with 20 others over his alleged involvement in the illegal mining scam, was produced before a CBI court in Bangalore amid tight security arrangements.
Additional Civil and Sessions Court judge B.M. Angadi remanded mining czar Reddy to custody after CBI moved an application in this regard.
The CBI, probing allegations of illegal mining and irregularities in the allotment of leases to Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), arrested Janardhana and Srinivas, on Sept 5 from Bellary in Karnataka.
