BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Mar 1: The crucial by-poll election, which will decide the fate of BJP's Sunil Kumar and the Congress' Jayaprakash Hegde will be held on Mar 18. All political parties have already started their campaigning to woo the voters, especially in Udupi and Chikmagalur.

However, it has been said that this time, it would be a fight of BJP scandals versus Congress scams. Many claim that BJP may lose the battleground to Congress or to JD(S) as the BJP has been facing tremendous criticism, especially over former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa's involvement in land scams and other mining scams.

It is believed that the upcoming by-poll is a prestige issue for the present Karnataka CM Sadananda Gowda as the election follows his quitting the seat in Jul 2011 when he (DVS) replaced Yeddyurappa as his (BSY's) successor.

Ahead of the Karnataka assembly polls 2013, it would be a great victory for Congress if the party succeeds to win the seats against the ruling party (BJP). Even Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) headed by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda is in the fray.
