New Delhi, Feb 29: India in a proactive step against terrorism, has foiled a terror attacks by arresting the suspect in the capital on Wednesday, said Home Minister P Chidambaram in a press conference at New Delhi.

This announcement by the Home Minister came just hours after the news of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) linked suspects being arrested from the Nizamuddin area in the Delhi by government agencies.

The names of arrested two LeT terrorists are Ethisham and Shafaqat, said Special CP P N Agarwal.

Chidambaram said that after agencies busted a LeT sponsored terror module in the capital, it has come to the light that they had planned to carry out attacks with bombs in crowded areas across Delhi.

Furthermore, Chidambaram, dismissed the earlier speculations that suspected militants targeted VVIPs, "there were no VVIPs in the hit list," he said. However, he added that duo had planned to plant one or two bombs in crowded areas.

Chidambaram, meanwhile, lauded the officials of three states and Central agencies for arresting suspects and foiling the attacks.

Commenting on the same, PTI tweeted Delhi Police chief BK Gupta saying, "Arrest of two Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists is a good catch and the duo were planning to strike anytime."

Giving the further details, he also said, "Material for making IED, including sulphuric acid and memory cards, which were showing terror training camps in Pakistan and making of IED, recovered from the suspected militants."

"One terror suspect is expert in IED making," said Gupta, according to PTI sources.
