Bangalore: 12-yr-old girl dies in WonderLa's wave pool

Bangalore, Feb 28: 12-year-old Sayeeda Shabrina Taj, a sixth standard student of Mata English School in RT Nagar, Bangalore, met with a fatal destiny in the amusement park - WonderLa.

The girl drowned and died as she failed to hold rope provided under water insde the wave pool of the park.

Bangalore police officials claimed that Sabrina might have lost grip of the safety rope while moving from the shallow end to the deep end. The force of teh wave could have carried her to the six-feet-deep side of the pool where she was found unconscious state.

Sabrina was rushed to a near by hospital where doctors declared that she was brought dead. Ramanagaram Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramakrishna said, "The girl was shifted to Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital on Mysore Road. The parents were informed of the girl's death."

Police registered a case of negligence against the authorities of WonderLa and against the officials of Mata English School.

Meanwhile, Wonder La spokesperson Rudresh expressed his sorrow and regret over the incident and claimed, "There were three girls in the pool at the time when a lifeguard noticed the group move towards a pillar in the corner. When one of them began to drown the lifeguard rescued her in less than 15 seconds and tried to resuscitate her. Oxygen was provided at our medical facility and then the girl was rushed to hospital."

The incident took place at around 3 pm on Monday, Feb 27 when a group of 120 school children visited the amusement park and Sabrina was one among them.
