Karnataka: Ousted Yeddyurappa to enjoy power in BJP?

BS Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Feb 27: While Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is silent after being snubbed by BJP president Nitin Gadkari, the state BJP has decided to give him the position of election campaign committee chairman, as claimed by party sources.

"This is the face-saving formula not only to the party but also to Yeddyurappa. While the former chief minister would feel that his demand for a position has been met, the party would heave a sigh of relief for having pulled the organisation back from the near-abyss," said sources.

During the expansion of Ministry, the party could not think of making Yeddyurappa the party state president as KS Eshwarappa had to be accommodated, who is currently serving as the state party president.

While Yeddyurappa's position as the election campaign committee chairman has been confirmed for the next year Assembly elections, It is not known if he will campaign for the Mar 18 Udupi-Chikamagalur elections.

"What’s wrong in having a year-long preparation for the elections? We have planned series of mega programmes during April and May to infuse dynamism among the cadre. Yeddyurappa will be the key person in all these programmes," said a party source.

Yeddyurappa will have to go on constant tours and address workers meetings and large gatherings. "This arrangement will assuage the hurt feelings of the Lingayat community," a leader said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has ensured that Yeddyurappa will be accommodated in a suitable position.
