'President rule in UP if Congress fails to obtain majority'

Kanpur, Feb 23: Coal Minister Prakash Jaiswal on Thursday, Feb 23 said, if congress fails to obtain majority in the ongoing assembly elections in the state then there is a possibility of President's rule being imposed in Uttar Pradesh.

"If Congress did not get the majority in Uttar Pradesh then there will be President"s rule in the state," said Jaiswal.

Reacting to Jaiswal statement, senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti said, "Congress has feudal mindset and they don't believe in democracy. The people will give their answer through votes."

Moreover, Samajwadi party General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said, "The comment by a congress minister shows the fear of the party and election commission should take action against him."

The Uttar Pradesh assembly will be conducted between Feb 08 and Mar 03. Poll counting will be done on Mar 6.
