Kochi, Feb 23: The counsel for the two arrested Italian marines, who had allegedly shot dead two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast on Wednesday, Feb 15 argued in the Kerala High Court on Thursday, Feb 23 that the incident had taken place in international waters and hence should be tried in an international court of law and not in India.

Earlier, the Italian government had demanded a joint probe into the killing claiming that the incident occurred in international waters.

Kerala police would seek further custody of the two marines for further investigation as the custody of the two Italians end on Thursday, reported sources. Meanwhile, the case was deferred for further hearing to Feb 28.
