Kingfisher commuters in trouble, 32 flights cancelled

New Delhi, Feb 19: Again the Kingfisher passengers left in lurch as the country's third largest airlines Kingfisher on Sunday, Feb 19, have announced to curtail its operations over the next four days, following the cancellation of 32 flights all across the country.

Over 16 flights have been cancelled from Mumbai and several flights have been delayed. While, the airline operations from Kolkata shut down completely for about ten days including the international flights.

However, Passengers agitated as they were not given prior information about the cancellation of the flights.

The airline is facing financial crisis for the last few months. All the cancellations have been done due to the crisis. The income tax authorities has seized one of the bank accounts of Kingfisher.

For the last two days, the airline is operating over 160 out of 240 flights per day and it has stopped taking bookings for Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai flights to accommodate passengers of cancelled flights.

The kingfisher's website showed that there was no availability of Singapore flights for the next ten days, same was the case for Bangkok.

While, the cash-strapped carrier has only three flights available from Hyderabad to Bangalore, Chennai and Vijayawada on scheduled cancellation.

According to the airport sources, most of the stranded passengers were accommodated in other flights, over 30 Kingfisher aircraft were grounded.

It has been expected that the airline operations from Tier-II and Tier-III cities would be affected till March-end, as claimed by sources

"We are operating over 200 of our daily flights. About 20 to 30 flights have been temporarily cancelled or combined till next Sunday (February 26) and will be back in the system from 27th. We are not going to pull out operations from any base and about 10 aircraft will be back in service soon. We are in talks with investors and the airline will soon get recapitalized," said Sanjay Aggarwal, CEO, Kingfisher.
