New Delhi, Feb 14: Delhi Police groped for clues in the terror attack on an Israeli Embassy car here and CCTV footages did not provide much help even as investigators recovered magnetic pieces from the device used for exploding the sticky bomb.

Five persons owning red colour motorcycles were detained but were let off later while another person who was caught on CCTV in front of Israeli embassy appeared before investigators. An assailant riding a motorcycle had stuck a bomb on the car in which the Israeli embassy employee Tal Yehoshua-Koren was traveling that exploded injuring her and others on Aurangezeb Road near the Prime Minister's official residence.

While City Police Commissioner B K Gupta refused to name Iran for the attack saying that investigators were yet to piece together the evidences, sources said a probe was on to check whether any Iranian living here was used to carry out the strike. Gupta said the bomb used in yesterday's attack was not bigger than a palmtop or a brick. He, however, said so far the investigations do not point to the use of RDX.

"The bomb would have exploded in 3-5 seconds after it was stuck on the vehicle. The motorcyclist then hit a boulevard, moved to the other lane, apparently took a left turn and fled," he said adding the bomb could have been exploded using a mechanical trigger, a remote or a timer. As another attack was triggered in Bangkok, Gupta said Indian security agencies were seeking information from authorities in Georgia, where a bomb was defused, and Thailand.
