Narendra Modi-Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi, Feb 13: With Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi embarking on an exhaustive campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh taking on the flawed governance of UP CM Mayawati and other opposition parties, he is now all set to lock horns with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It has been reported that Modi is next on Rahul's target.

With an eye on the upcoming Assembly election in Gujarat by the end of this year, Modi is a likely choice for the BJP as the Prime Minister. Rahul plans to launch his attacks based on reports that key elements in the Sangh Parivar and the state’s all-powerful Patels were not too happy with Modi's style of governance. There are also reports that Modi's Hindutva image is taking a beating in recent times owing to factional fights within the BJP as well as the anti-incumbency factor. The fact that he has irked the BJP High command has also gone down well with certain elements in the state.

It has been stated that Rahul is expected to play a larger role after the UP elections and not limit himself to the Youth Congress and NSUI affairs. The added fact on why Rahul will concentrate on Gujarat is that it will impact and hopefully dent the BJP's prospects in the Assembly elections in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh that is slated to go to polls next year.
