New Delhi
New Delhi, Feb 12: Congress on Sunday, Feb 12 has shown its confidence to win the upcoming Delhi Municipal Corporation elections as the BJP had lost its support base in the capital city.

Last year, out of 700 Assembly seats in five states, BJP had managed to win only five.

Launching an attack on BJP, Chaudhary Birender Singh, Delhi in-charge of All-India Congress Committee said that BJP has now taken the help of Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare to weaken Congress.

JP Agarwal, President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee addressed a Workers' Convention at Vijay Nagar Dussehra Ground near Delhi University and said that Gandhi family members were "embodiments of sacrifice and courage. People have seen through the designs of the BJP and understood that while the Congress is a party of the common people, the BJP is a party of contractors, and it had nothing worthwhile to show for its five-year rule in the MCD."

The convention was attended by the senior party leaders including Delhi Ministers, All-India Congress Committee leaders and MPs.

"But its dream of coming back to power would never be fulfilled," Singh added.

Birender also charged BJP claiming that "instead of serving the people, the BJP has become a party of the power peddlers and brokers after coming to power."

Union Minister Krishna Tirath, AICC treasurer Motilal Vohra, Arvinder Singh Lovely, West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra and Delhi Ministers A. K. Walia, Haroon Yusuf and Ramakant Goswami, all spoke at the meeting.
