Lifeless body of Houston found in hotel bathtub: report

Los Angeles, Feb 12: Pop legend and actress Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room, a US media report said today citing paramedics who had rushed to save her but found her "lifeless."

On Saturday, paramedics raced to the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel and found a lifeless Houston inside her hotel room bathtub, ABC News quoted authorities as saying. Members of Houston's entourage reportedly found her unresponsive body and called hotel security, it said.

Officials tried to resuscitate the 48-year-old singer with Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but were unable to revive Houston, whose once sparkling career was torn apart by drug abuse and personal problems.

Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen said she was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. "No obvious signs of foul play and no obvious signs of a cause of death," Rosen said.

Los Angeles Coroner Office officials left with Houston's body around 1:50 a.m. An autopsy is expected to be conducted today or Monday, according to ABC News Los Angeles station KABC. The singer's cause of death remains unknown, according to her publicist, Kristen Foster.
