Maldives: Ex-Prez Nasheed missing; Arrest warrant issued
Many supporters of Nasheed already started fearing as he is still missing and his (Nasheed's) whereabouts are not known. According to sources, the Judge, who ordered arrest of Nasheed, was earlier sacked by the former President. The court also ordered arrest of former Defense Minister of the country.
Earlier on Wednesday, Nasheed had claimed that he was forced to quit at gunpoint. Mohamed Nasheed's supporters clashed with police and Maldivian Democratic Party activists hit the streets.
Reports revealed that there was allegedly a coup-bid in Maldives and clash between the police and Army had taken control over the state broadcaster.
The coup attempt was allegedly by the opposition demonstrators and the police. However, official sources refuted reports that the President resigned.
Mohammad Nasheed came into power in 2008. Reports also reveal that the President remains in control of the army.
