Army chief age row hearing deferred till Feb 10
The hearing came on Friday (Today), a day after he met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and it was speculated as government's last effort to seek an out of court settlement.
A bench of justices comprising RM Lodha and HL Gokhale will hear the case with no precedent.
The dispute erupted when General Singh stated that he was born on May 10, 1951. While, the government claimed that he was born on May 10, 1950 as two sets of records had been recorded in two branches of the army headquarters.
Even, there are series of records which claim that he was born on May 10, 1950 including a UPSC form filled by Vijay Kumar before joining the National Defence Academy.
However, the chief shows his matriculation certificate as proof and complained that different army branches didn't reconcile his age records.
