Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 3: In what could have been seen as an exam result of a studious student, Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Peerzada Sayeed's son's passing of the 10th standard board exam elicited more curiosity than happiness. It has been alleged that the Board of School Education officials helped him write the exam and subdued the matter.

Peerzada Sayeed himself is under a corruption taint that also saw Opposition leaders calling for his resignation and accusing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for not taking adequate action on his case. The Crime Branch had only earlier raided the Board's offices and seized documents from there.

A newspaper report on Jan 30 printed in Srinagar had shown the facsimile of an answer sheet that was written in two handwritings. It was reported that the answers were written in the answer sheet by an official to make sure Sayeed's son passed the secondary school exam in 2009.

There are also testimonies by certain members of the invigilation team, the Chief Minister's secretariat and Raj Bhawan that reveals that they were aware of the cheating and chose to remain silent on the issue due to pressure from the Education Minister.
