10 more infants dead in WB; Mamata to quit Health portfolio?

Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, Feb 3: It seems that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds the Health portfolio in the state, might be asked to submit her resignation paper or she might be forced to quit her Health portfolio.

Continuing the horrible trail, 10 more infants died in a hospital in the state. This time the incident happened in Bankura, a southern district in West Bengal. This time the infant deaths took place in Bankura Sammilani Medical College on Friday, Feb 3.

This time the state government showed malnutrition and under-weight as the reasons for the deaths. Mamata Banerjee had termed the continuous infant deaths in Bengal as "rumor".

Recently, 9 children died in a hospital in Malda, another district in West Bengal. Over 120 infants had died in January alone in several government hospitals in Malda. [Read: No lessons learnt; West Bengal sees 9 more infant deaths]
