Mobile service blackout in Kashmir on Republic Day

Srinagar, Jan 26: As India commemorates 63 years of the republic day on Thursday, Jan 26 to keep any anti-social occurrence at bay, service providers has put off mobile phone connectivity across Kashmir valley.

This was a part of security protocol, to prevent separatists from triggering electronically-controlled remote devices. Hence, the service of all the mobile service operators observed blackout for few hours in Srinagar.

"This is part of the standard security drill. The services will be restored immediately after the official parade ends here," an officer said.
