Lucknow surprised; Maya's elephant delivers gold bricks!

Lucknow, Jan 25: Maya's play, which shows her pet elephant eating people on occasion, has been stopped in midway in Lucknow. Confused? Then read on. It's not Mayawati but Maya, a lead character of a play which was being played in Uttar Pradesh but the government did not allow it further to be staged in the city.

According to sources, the government officials did not want to engage in a fight over violation of code of conduct imposed by the election commission which barred all political parties from campaigning through such policies that could influence voters.

The play shows the lead character, called Maya who loves her solid-gold sandals and has a pet elephant. Mukesh Verma, the director of the play, meanwhile, said, "The elephant in the play eats people on occasion, what goes in at one end sometimes comes out the other as gold bricks."

The play caught people's attention when all statues of Mayawati and elephants have been covered up with pink cloths following the direction of the election commission.
