DMK divided,Karuna shocked, Stalin trying to remove Alagiri?
According to DMK sources, Alagiri, who is a Union chemicals and fertiliser minister, threatened to resign from the DMK and also from the union cabinet if Karunanidhi and other top leaders of the party approve Stalin's recent proposals. It has been reported that Alagiri felt threatened by Stalin's latest proposals ahead of the general council meeting. Sources said that Alagiri believes Stalin aimed to weaken and remove Alagiri from the party.
Here it can be mentioned that Stalin, who was the deputy Chief Minister during DMK's tenure in Tamil Nadu, urged the party supremo to appoint him (Stalin) as the working president of party. However, Alagiri claimed that there should not be any change in the positions holding by the leaders.
Here it can be recalled that Karunanidhi's two sons were involved in similar kind of spat when Stalin urged the youth and senior party workers to join a protest campaign against Kalaignar's family politics and its negative impact on DMK.
