Anna Hazare
Ralegan Siddhi, Jan 25: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare is back in the limelight and no sooner did he choose to do so, he has sparked a fresh controversy. Speaking to reporters after attending a special screening of the Hindi film 'Gali Gali Chor Hai', Hazare commented that a person is left with no option but to slap when his power of tolerance of corruption runs out.

The movie is based on corruption and its affects on the common man. He has been quoted as saying, "When a man's power of tolerance runs out, then whoever is in front of you, if a slap is given, then the brain is put back in place. That is the only road open now."

Hazare had faced some angry emotions for his comments in the aftermath of the slapgate row on Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Nov 24 last year. It was reported that Hazare approved of the act. [Read: 'Slapped only once'; Anna comments on Sharad Pawar assault]

In a case that could welcome flak from various quarters, the comment made by him totally disregards his rhetoric for ahimsa and peaceful methods of protest.
