Jaipur burning, criminal cases against Salman Rushdie
On the same day Rajasthan government also asserted that it would not allow the controversial author's proposed video link address to the Jaipur Literature Festival without prior permission.
The development came a day after the India-born author accused the Rajasthan police of lying about a plot to eliminate him to keep him away from the Festival, a charge dismissed by the state government which said Intelligence Bureau had given the inputs and it was not concocted.
Earlier it was reported that the authors who mustered courage to read excerpts from the 'Satanic Verses' have been asked to leave the festival venue. There are also speculation that they might be arrested if they stayed on.
Meanwhile, NDTV reporter Barkha Dutt tweeted from her Twitter account, "complainants have gone to court in Ajmer, Hyderabad, Jaipur against Sanjoy Roy & four authors who read from Rushdie. Courts set date on 2nd."
