Islamabad, Jan 23: Farahnaz Ispahani, President Asif Ali Zardari's media adviser and wife of former envoy to US Husain Haqqani has kicked up a controversy when she said that she fears being kidnapped by Pak intelligence agency, the ISI.

Ispahani had fled to Washington amd stated that she might be abducted in order to force her husband to confess that could lead to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari getitng implicated in the memogate scandal. The matter was revealed by Geo News from London.

Pakistan was involved in a bitter feud among army chiefs and government authorities when a secret memo was exposed that stated that Zardari feared a military coup in the aftermath of the killing of terrorist and Al Qaeda chief Osama in Laden. The memo was reported to have been forwarded by Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz.

Speaking to Christina Lamb from the Sunday Times, Ispahani said that the memogate scandal involving Haqqani was "trumped up". The article in the Sunday Times has said that Haqqani's life was in danger and Ispahani had fled Washington over fears that the "ISI might kidnap her to force her husband to sign a confession and implicate the president".

Quoting the Sunday Times, Ispahani has been quoted as saying, "What we're seeing is the systematic killing or silencing of anyone who stands up to the institutionalisation of a militarised Islamist state, who advocates positive relations with the West or stands up for tolerance. I'm scared, even the government can't even protect itself."
