Mayawati neglecting tribals, alleges Rahul Gandhi
A Congress government was needed to give a new identity to the state, he told an election rally in tribal-dominated Duddhi area here.
"We brought a bill to ensure that tribals get right of their land but it was not implemented properly in the state," the Congress leader said.
He said the Congress was the true well wisher of farmers and in this context mentioned the UPA government waiving their loans amounting to Rs 60,000 crore. Accusing the Mayawati government of embezzling public funds, Rahul said the elephant (BSP's poll symbol) in Lucknow was eating money of Central schemes.
Targeting Samajwadi Party, he said Mulayam Singh Yadav had been Chief Minister thrice and "you all very well know what can one expect from his government."
