Italian liner: Divers resume search for missing passengers
The search operation was postponed early on Jan 18 morning after the liner shifted on the rock. Sources said that more than 20 people were still missing. Till now, at least eleven people have been reported dead and over 60 injured.
Meanwhile, Italian officials claim that the ship has now stabilised and a specialist team from a Dutch salvage company is preparing to pump more than 2,400 tonnes of fuel from the ship's 17 tanks.
Captain Francesco Schettin of the Costa Concordia, the luxury liner that hit underwater rocks off the coast of Italy with more than 4,200 passengers and crew aboard has admitted to making a navigational error.
Meanwhile, the captain has been kept in custody in a prison in Grosseto, in Tuscany over multiple charges.
