Maha: Raj Thackeray slams state election commission

Thane, Jan 18: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday launched an attack over the state election commission over its decision to conduct polls in 10 municipal corporations on Feb 16, which is eight days after Zilla parishad poll results.

"It is apparent that the election commission is toeing the line dictated by the ruling coalition. The constitutional body is playing partisan politics and definitely working under pressure from the Congress-NCP combine," he said.

The election commission should be fair and results of zilla parishad and civic corporation should be declared on the same day, so that zilla parishad's results do not affect the civic poll voters, he said.
