TN engg students from Kerala thrown out of running train

Kochi, Jan 17: Two engineering students of Jnanamani Engineering College, Salem, Tamil Nadu were beaten up and thrown out of a running train at Erode station. The incident happened on Friday, Jan 13 when they were returning to their hometown in Kerala.

The victims were attacked brutally by a gang with iron rods. The gang also pierced their ears when they denied to give ATM cards, money and mobile contact numbers of other girl students. The victims, however, accused their senior students as they (the victims) reportedly confronted them (senior students) in the Kerala bound train on Friday, Jan 13.

The two attacked students were - 19-year-old Geevarghese John and Arunraj of Aroor. While the former one received grave injuries, later sustained minor injuries. 50 stitches were done on Geevarghese's body when he was taken to hospital. Geevarghese and Arunraj - both were admitted to a government hospital, but later their family members took them to an other hospital in Kochi.
