The newborn baby was found lying in a drain, draped in a cloth. According to an eyewitness, the infant might have belonged to a well-rich family. The witness was quoted as saying, "He was probably left inside the packet and by looking at the clothes he was wrapped in, he seems to have belonged to a well-to-do family."
Another eyewitness stated that the baby was dragged by few street dogs and later pecked by crows. Surprisingly, the incident happened just behind the wall of the medical college compound.
The baby, wrapped in a cloth, was noticed at around 7:30 am and no one informed the police until the dogs dragged and started biting the newborn with their canine teeth.
Surprisingly, many stated that passers-by, who noticed the entire incident, informed a local news channel before alerting the near by police station in Bhangaghar.
However, later the police intervened and took the baby to the medical college and hospital where the infant died.
