WB Hooch Tragedy kills 175 people, culprit arrested, finally

Kolkata, Jan 16: One month after the hooch tragedy, which killed more than 170 people in West Bengal, police finally succeeded to arrest the kingpin of the tragedy - Khora Badshah. Police arrested Khora Badshah alias Noor Islam Fakir when he surrendered himself in a local court in Bengal on Monday, Jan 16.

Here it can be recalled that sources earlier had informed that Badshah was enjoying enjoying support of CPI(M) but his loyalty shifted to the new state government (read Trinamool Congress) following the massive change in the political scenario in West Bengal. West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee appointed CID to investigate the case where almost 175 people died after consuming poisonous alcohol. The deceased were mainly auto drivers, rickshaw drivers. The state government also announced Rs 2 lakh for the kins of the deceased as compensation and Rs 10,000 also will be given for the last rites of the victims. The government has also vowed to punish the culprits.
