No birthday pinks for Maya, occasion to be a low key affair

Lucknow, Jan 16: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, who turned 56 today, will keep her birthday a low key affair following the Election Commission's order to the District Magistrate of Lucknow, that a report be submitted on the expenses incurred by the BSP.

The EC is also keeping eyes like a hawk on all birthdays and weddings, as it is dubious that the occasion could be used to the benefit to bribe voters and distribute gifts.

It is expected that Mayawati will release a list of candidates for the upcoming UP assembly elections that are scheduled to take place from Feb 8.

"Behenji's birthday celebration is being hosted by the party and it is certainly not a violation of the election model code of conduct," claimed Swami Prasad Maurya, state BSP president.

Reports reveal that Mayawati would release her autobiography that will include a list of her latest achievements.

Mayawati's birthdays have always been known for their celebration with galore and splendor. In 2008, an engineer was killed by BSP MLA after he refused to fund for her birthday, that was demanded by the MLA, who is currently lodged in the jail.
