Rahul Gandhi disrupts educational activities; served notice

New Delhi, Jan 14: In a setback to Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and his plans for poll bound UP, he was issued a notice for allegedly disrupting educational activities at Shibli College in Azamgarh. He was served the notice along with UP Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi. It was served by the Returning officer and Azamgarh DM on Saturday.

As part of his extensive campaigning, Rahul Gandhi stayed at the college guest house on the night of Jan 10. The next day saw heightened tensions when a group of male students carried out a protest to the college. They also burnt an effigy of Rahul Gandhi over the Batala house encounter issue.

Following this episode, male students were barred from entering the college premises. Not this alone, only female students were allowed to meet Rahul Gandhi during his stay there.
