Battle for Punjab: Politicians campaign on FB and YouTube
Leaving no stone unturned to build the party's campaign on social networking sites, the politicians have uploaded their individual ad campaigns, songs, slogans and videos. Moreover, political parties have also uploaded day-to-day happenings, information on rallies, list of candidates and photo galleries, which are available on the Facebook accounts and websites of main leaders.
Sources said that, the traditional fashion of campaigning through posters and banners has been a costly affair which in turn forced the politicos to take to cyberspace for campaigning. It is also learnt that politicians launched their campaigns in social networking sites to gather more support for their respective parties in the state.
Meanwhile, the politicians have also uploaded videos showing candidates speaking against their rivals to grab the attention of the public. Recently, targeting present Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, former Chief Minister and state Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh’s website www.captainforcm.com has uploaded a song, "Ki banu Punjab da."
The forthcoming Punjab assembly election will create a massive competition between the ruling Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine and the Congress. Moreover, Peoples Party of Punjab and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are also in the fray with their candidates in various crucial seats. Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly elections will be held on Jan 30.
