Andhra in dark, Chandrababu protests for power, arrested

Hyderabad, Jan 10: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, Chandrababu Naidu has been arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Jan 10. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested when he along with his other party cadres were shoeing protest against the state government led by Congress and against the Electricity Department in the city.

Showing their concern over the current shortage of electricity in the state, TDP chief held a rally holding hurricane lantern in hands. TDP's protest march started from its party headquarters - NTR Trust Bhavan and headed towards Vidyut Saudha, headquarters of Electricity Department.

Naidu's rally was disrupted in the midway when police erected barricades at the Nagarjuna circle on Road No 3 of Banjara Hills and tried to stop protest. However, Naidu's supporters overruled the order imposed by police officials and they tried to continue their protest march towards their destination.

Citing the protest, police arrested the TDP chief to disperse the crowd gathered at the venue. People in the rally protested against the proposed hike of power tariff and the cuts imposed on all sectors.

Meanwhile, raising slogan against Naidu, Telangana Electricity Employees JAC activists showed their rage against the TDP supremo saying, "Go back Naidu."
