Politician behind Bhanwari Devi's murder: CBI

New Delhi, Jan 10: The CBI on Monday, Jan 9 claimed that slain auxiliary nurse, Bhanwari Devi was murdered at the behest of a political leader.

Sources reveal that some political leaders in the state were already aware of the conspiracy to kill her.

Bhanwari Devi went missing from Bilara on Sep 1. The mystery behind her disappearance was said to be a sex CD that allegedly featured the nurse and sacked water resources minister, Mahipal Maderna. It is also said that Bhanwari used the CD working out in her favour by blackmailing Maderna.

Months after her disappearance, the CBI claimed a major breakthrough in the case after one of the main accused confessed to the crime. They also recovered the place where her body was burnt and were successful in finding her remains.

Meanwhile, the main accused in the case, Mahipal Maderna and Congress MLA Malkan Singh, who are believed to have planned the plot will not appear in the court, said reports. Both were arrested on the grounds of suspicion after Bhanwari Devi went missing.
