Raipur, Jan 6: Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi on Friday, Jan 6 claimed that three people had died and over 100 were blinded in Chattisgarh after being operated upon at an eye operation camp organised by the state government in various districts in recent months.

"It's shocking that over 100 people were blinded and three people died after they were operated upon for cataract at government eye camps in various districts in recent months," said Jogi.

Jogi blamed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the serious disaster and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the issue.

Reacting to the issue, the state government strongly rejected Jogi's clam of the deaths in the cataract surgeries at government health camps. Though, earlier on Dec 22, 2011 in the state assembly, Health Minister Amar Agrawal had confessed that as many as 44 people were blinded after being operated upon at an eye camp organised by the state government at Balod in Durg district between Sept 22-30 in 2011.
