Mayawati hires writers, singers for party's image makeover?
Rumours are doing the rounds that senior officers in Mayawati government are chalking out a strategy to freshen up her image. [Read More: Major events, top news of 2011].
"She already has the support of a major chunk of the 21 per cent population of the state. Now her main concern is to woo the upper sections who are either with the BJP or the Congress. So, she needs an agency that has a reach in that segment," said Kapil Kapoor, head of a local advertisement agency.
"This is how image-building is done. The agencies conduct surveys to understand the nature of criticism of a brand - whether the brand is a political party or a leader. Then we give suggestions to the managers of the brand to change their campaigning style or strategy accordingly," he said.
"The BSP has also hired Mumbai based writers and singers to make music cassettes, which will be used in villages to ensure that her core vote bank remain loyal," he said.
"I am not aware of the amount the BSP is investing on Mayawati's image change. I have come to know that all political parties have engaged one or the other agency for this purpose," he added.
