Jayalalithaa was speaking during the party's general council meeting when she made the statements. She also issued a warning to the party members of stern action if ‘they are in touch with traitors.’
During the event, Jaya stated, “Days are not far off when AIADMK would go beyond Tamil Nadu and achieve great things at the national political arena."
Revealing her grand plans for her party, she said that the time is ripening again for the party to decide on the prime ministerial candidate and "we will be there in the next government at the centre."
She also called the party’s golden period was in 1998 when it extended its support to the BJP that ultimately led to Atal Bihari Vajpayee becoming the Prime Minister.
She added that the party workers need to work relentlessly and not to rest on the success at the assembly and local body elections. She said that more clout at the Centre will mean that decisions can be facilitated that will be favourable to the rights of Tamil Nadu.
The occasion also saw Jayalalithaa make a veiled reference to close-aide Sasikala, who was recently expelled from the party. She issued a warning citing those having connections to such people will
not be pardoned.
