Raj: 5000 doctors quit, deaths due to medical crisis
All the government doctors are going on a strike since Dec 21. However, on Saturday, the private doctors and medical teachers have supported the in-service doctors for their long-pending demand of pay-hike and time-bound promotions.
"Dr Durgashankar Saini met the director and handed over to him resignations of 5,000 doctors of various districts. Several other doctors in different districts have also forwarded their resignation to respective district collectors," said Mahesh Sharma, Vice-President of the Association.
According to sources, around a dozen patients including at least five in Jodhpur and one in Jaipur have died so far due to the unavailability of doctors.
"All the 6116 in-service doctors are on strike but the government has no sensitivity. Today, around 10,000 private doctors and 2000 medical teachers joined them," said S S Agrawal, Indian Medical Association, Rajasthan branch.
