UP: Mayawati targets Congress for betraying Muslims

Mumbai, Dec 18: In view of forthcoming 2012 state Assembly polls, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday, Dec 18 said that that 27 percent quota of OBC should be increased by making constitutional amendment if backward Muslims are included in it.

BSP spremo further targated Congress-led UPA government for betraying Muslims saying Muslims had considered Congress their benefactor but the party had "betrayed them".

Addressing a 'Muslim, Kshatriya and Vaishya Mahasammelan meeting', Mayawati said "It made promise after promise but gave nothing (other) than assurances. The Sachar panel report has mentioned about the condition of Muslims. Several riots have taken place in Meerut and Moradabad (in Uttar Pradesh), Bhagalpur (Bihar), Mumbai, Bharatpur (Rajasthan), it had deep impact on the Muslim psyche."

Mayawati also accused Bharatiya Janata Party for the Babri mosque demolition at Ayodhya in Dec 1992. She further said that her government has been doing various development works for Muslims. Meanwhile, Mayawati support towards Muslims said as she might have eyes on Muslims votes in upcoming UP assembly polls.
