Big blow for Saina; loses in World Super Series final

Beijing, Dec 18: Badminton champion Saina Nehwal lost the women's singles final of the BWF Super Series badminton championship against World Number 1 Wan Yihan by 21-18, 13-21, 13-21 on Sunday, Dec 18 in Liuzhou, China.

World number four and first Indian singles player to reach the summit clash of BWF Super Series Finals, Nehwal made a good start in the first set but Yihan started dominating from second set and won the two consecutive sets by 13-21 and 13-21.

Meanwhile, with this win world number one Wang Yihan kept her 100 percent record against Nehwal as she beaten the Indian shuttler in all four matches so far.

Gutta Jwala and V. Diju were the only other Indians who made it to the finals in mixed doubles in the 2009 edition of BWF Super Series where they won against Thailand's Anugritayawon Songphon and Voravichitchaikul Kunchala by 21-12 , 21-8.

Moreover, for the 21-year-old Hyderabadi girl this is the third finish as runner-up, whereas China's world no. 1 Yihan Wang's sixth title of the year, including the World Championships crown.
