New Delhi, Dec 17: The Winter Session of Parliament may be extended by three days from Dec 27 to Dec 29 for passage of the Lokpal bill if the two Houses fail to pass the bill next week.

Meanwhile, the current session is expected to end on Dec 22. The development has come after Anna Hazare’s threat to sit on a fast from Dec 27. But there are still some major hurdles with the passage of this Bill where a consensus needs to achieve such as the inclusion of the CBI’a anti-corruption wing and lower bureaucracy in the ambit of the Lokpal.

Anna Hazare on Saturday, Dec 17 wrote a letter to Manmohan Singh saying if a strong, independent and effective bill is not passed in the session he will go ahead with his proposed fast on Dec 27 and 'Jail Bharo' agitation from Dec 30. Anna also alleged PM to bring different Citizens’ Charter despite giving a written assurance to him that it will be part of the Lokpal bill.

Earlier, Anna Hazare had warned that he would sit-in protest outside the houses of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi if an effective Lokpal bill was not passed during the Parliament's winter session.
