Bhanwari Devi case: Husband shocks all; confesses to crime

New Delhi, Dec 15: In a shocking revelation, Bhanwari Devi's husband Amar Chand confessed to the CBI that he was a part in Bhanwari's abduction plot and the deal was made for Rs 10 lakh.

The CBI on Thursday has filed a status report in the Rajasthan High court over the case. Meanwhile, the CBI has found Amar Chand's driver as a new witness in the case.

The agency claimed that Amar Chand was misleading the investigators as he said that his car was to be repaired so he could not accompany Bhanwari Devi on the day she went missing.

On the other hand, Amar Chand's driver revealed that the car was not repaired on Sept 1.

A special CBI court had extended the police custody of Amar Chand till Dec 20 due to his non-cooperation during the investigation. Amar Chand was arrested on Dec 8.

The status report will also include the revelation made by sacked Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna for his involvement in Bhanwari's abduction.

According to the report, Maderna confessed to his relationship with Bhanwari Devi, but denied about her alleged killing. Meanwhile, the CBI has warned Congress MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi to appear before the agency as he has been evading the interrogation for a long time.

During the CBI interrogation, Amar Chand revealed that Malkhan Singh actually fathered his youngest daughter.
