The NGO accused Reddys and the former BJP Minister of Karnataka, Sriramulu of acquiring about 251 acres of agricultural land illegally. The disputed land is in and around Bellary, Reddys' place where they allegedly have scattered their illegal mining net.
SR Hiremath, the convener of the NGO said, "Prima facie, we have found serious illegalities and irregularities committed by Reddy brothers and Sreeramulu in acquiring agricultural lands in violation of various land norms including Land Reforms Act in and around Bellary town."
The complaint was filed against Janardhan Reddy, his wife and Karunakara Reddy and his wife. Their brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy along with his wife has also been accused. Sreeramulu and his wife Bhagyalaxmi is also among the accused.
Threatening Sadananda Gowda's BJP government in the state, the NGO officials claimed, "We had moved the Supreme Court to ban illegal mining in the state. We will do the same if government does not heed to our demand."
Janardhan Reddy and Srinivas Reddy are currently lodged in a jail in Andhra Pradesh as they were arrested over illegal mining scam. Later Sriramulu resigned from the BJP and participated in Bellary poll as an independent candidate and won the election.
