Bribe takers across parties exposed; BJP suspends MLCs

New Delhi, Dec 7: In what can be termed as yet another victory for good journalism, an IBN sting operation has dragged the bribe takers to justice.

Journalists for IBN channel, took on a cover operation unveiling corrupt councilors who fix a price for allowing illegal construction in Delhi. Irrespective to the party they belong to, be it Congress, BJP or others, they were caught on cameras as they were negotiating the bribe money with scribes oblivious of hidden camera.

As an immediate impact, six councilors of BJP were suspended, after the fall out. Though, many claimed innocence and accused that CD was doctored, hitting the same old chord.

However, the Congress is yet to act against its MLCs who were caught on camera indulging in corruption. Reacting to the report, DPCC president Jai Prakash Agarwal said that those involved would be suspended.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta said, "We have suspended all six councillors. We want to send out a message that we will not tolerate corruption. We will also do our own investigation."

The undercover scribe-operation had exposed eight MCDs from different political outfits negotiating bribe money to let the illegal construction, the bribe sum varies from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

According to reports, as many as 50 buildings were collapsed in last one decade and almost 500 people have lost their lives in such incidents due to, may be deliberate, major construction error.
